I’ve been a little bit lazy over the last few weeks. I’ve not been to the gym at all; hell, I’ve not even switch on the Wii Fit! I don’t really know what the issue has been. Perhaps it has something to do with work screwing me around (until I found out about the promotion, of course) and I really wasn’t feeling up to it. But now that’s in the past and I started it all again properly today.

The morning began extremely early at 4:50 (yes, madness, I know!) with a light run. I’m not very good at running. I can’t go very far without my ankles really killing, though I obviously hope to change that with extended exercise. I’m not sure I’ll be going out every morning, but it was rather nice out today and I do want to keep it up. I then added to it a set of crunches on my ab device before heading on over to work. Lunchtime was the filled with a full-on session at the gym, with cardio and weights abound. Then this afternoon I decided I needed to get back onto the Wii and so did a little light yoga to top it all off.

I really don’t think I shall be doing that every day, but it’s made me feel rather good to get back into it. Now to just keep it up!

On top of my gym activities, I’ve also started on a beginner’s course with a local karate club. This came about as there are a few people in the office who go and as these first four weeks are free, I haven’t really got an excuse to turn it down! Tomorrow will be week three and I’ll soon have to decide whether I wish to continue with it. At the minute I’m not sure. It’s not that I’m not enjoying it, but I don’t want to fork out for the gi and then only go once afterwards. We shall see – there’s still plenty of time left to decide.

Now I just need to remember to eat healthily too and the weight will drop right off!

Goodness, it’s been a good long while since I left a post! Every day it just slips my mind, again and again, until it reaches the point where I start to consider why I bother anyway. And then it gets to a day like today when I realise I actually enjoy writing these posts, even if they’re not read by the largest numbers of people. So I shall being again and will hopefully maintain at least a regular posting.

But what to talk about first? There’ve not been a huge number of changes since my last posting, though there was one fairly major incident to tell you about. I got promoted!

I’ve yet to take up my post – that’ll happen on 2 November. But it’s such a great feeling knowing that I’m leaving my current team. I’m not going to go into detail just in case this happens to reach one of them (!), but it shouldn’t really be news to anyone in the office that I’ve not been happy in my job for a while. Especially when the boss decided to really mess with me. But again, I’m not going to go into any detail.

After finding out what my new role will entail, I must say I’m quite excited. Whilst it doesn’t sound like the greatest job in the world when I first tell people, it’s a brand new position which I can make my own. I’ll be entering and analysing data for a new national database as well as taking charge of the department’s nationwide finances. I’m not yet sure whether I’ll be getting a small team to lend a hand, but I guess I’ll decide that once I know how much work I’ll have to do. And hopefully there’ll also be opportunities to expand the role into other areas dealt with within the wider team, such as risk management.

I know the next five weeks will go extremely slowly, but I seriously can’t wait to get stuck in to my new role.
