I’ve never really been the sort to travel. I’ve probably mentioned that before. After deciding to change that, it became a difficult decision on where to actually travel to. Firstly, I made up my mind to start with somewhere close. So earlier this year I embarked on a couple of day trips; one to Dublin and one to Paris. I’ve written about them previously on this very blog. I had promised myself that I’d make a third trip before the year was out, but in the end that never happened. I just never got around to organising it.
What I did get around to organising though was a couple of trips to Spain for early in the new year. This was mainly due to Travelodge and their excellent €12 per night deal. Whilst I clearly understand I’m not going to be staying in the most upmarket of locations, I don’t see the issue with fifteen minutes of travel to get where you want to be. So I’ll be off to Barcelona then Madrid in February and March. These two trips would make up for the fact I only managed two day trips in 2009, and as they’re so early in the year, there’ll be plenty of time to go somewhere else later on in 2010.
Only, I’m not waiting until later on in 2010. Instead I’m going with my good friend @Y2Neildotcom to New York, in between my trips to Spain. Work are thrilled, as I’m sure you guessed!
At the minute, we’re just planning what we want to whilst there. The flights are booked (bargain) as is the hotel (also a bargain, and located right in the centre of the city). I’ve even got us a couple of Knicks tickets so that we really get the full NYC experience. Now to see what else there is to do!
