You may have seen from the previous post that I’ve set up a new blog for the trip I’m going to be taking across the States. This info is syndicated from the other blog as the plan is to have a number of people writing for it, and I’ll be pulling my posts from it to add to this one too. Just so you know.
If you’re a regular visitor to the site you should find it all a little bit different from today. I liked the old design, I really did, but it wasn’t without its flaws. It would often take an age to load and the thin design meant everything was a little squashed. Hopefully this new one should resolve those issues.
The new layout is called Gears and designed by My Mobiles Web Design. It’s wider and will allow me to add larger maps and images directly to the page. The text is also bigger, meaning those with dodgier eyes should be able to read it with ease! And then there’s the blue box near the top of the page which will allow me to add additional bits of info should the mood take me.
Everything else should be working the same, but now hopefully a little quicker and a little easier to read. Let me know what you think.
I’ve decided to change the design of the blog. I was getting a bit bored with the old one. No doubt this one will change soon enough, but for now I quite like it!
What is all this blogging about if it isn’t self-indulgence and vanity? To that end I’ve added an exciting feeds page that no-one but me will look at!
If you take a look at the links near the top of the page you’ll now find one entitled Lifestream. This is basically a list of RSS feeds separated by dates and times of when I was out and about on the web, submitting one thing or another to various websites. I’ve mainly added it because I think it’s a pretty cool tool rather than because I think it adds any value to the site!
I imagine some of the information entered on there will be a little repetitive, as I have Twitter updated when I post on the blog, meaning the feed will show blog posts twice. Might happen with some other stuff too, but I won’t know until it does!
There’s also an extra option to have it update the blog itself daily with details of my comings and goings. I’m not bothering with that one just yet, but if it pleases my audience I may well add it in the future! (And by audience I obviously mean just myself!)
I didn’t like the Photo Gallery as it was. It’d been on here for less than a day, and it simply wasn’t what I wanted. So instead I’ve set up a gallery using Zen Photo. Whilst this is separate to the blog and has a different style, I find its cleaner looks are much better suited to displaying photographs.
So the link at the top of the page will now whisk you off to a completely different part of the site. But never fear; you can easily return to the blog by clicking on amjohnno at the top of the page.
