As you may have seen, I’ve recently been advertising a couple of books. One of kid’s poetry and one of some photos I took at Chatsworth. Well, a copy of each arrived today.
The poetry one is pretty good. I’m not going to comment about what’s inside, but rather the quality of the print. And the poetry book is very good. It’s printed in simple black ink and bound in paperback and looks very professional. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for the photography book.
This one is in hardback, and at first glance it looks pretty good. But if you look beyond the simply black cover, the stitching holding the pages in place is very shoddy and the print is not really up to scratch. The colours are a bit wishy-washy and the first page has a line down the centre where the printing process didn’t work properly. The dust jacket arrived curving at the edges and printed on extremely cheap plastic.
So all in all I can’t really recommend the service over at Blurb. If you’re just after printing paperbacks then I’d say go for it, but steer clear of their photo-book printing service.
I though that whilst I was putting the poems on Blurb, I might as well have a go with a photo book as well. So here, for your viewing pleasure, is a selection of images from the Chatsworth Gallery, all printed in full colour and wonderfully bound in your choice of softback, hardback or hardback image-wrapped.
As some of you know, over the years I’ve written a few kid’s poems. Most of these have been about animals in some way, shape or form. Well, after discovering the possibility to self-publish in a few easy clicks with Blurb I’ve decided to do just that.
So below you’ll find a link to my first book. No pressure to buy of course! But if you want to, that’s fine to! It’s not a very long book, but it’s hopefully at least a remotely enjoyable one.
